About Dr Namal Munasinghe
Dr Namal Munasinghe is an Australian-trained Specialist Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon based in Melbourne. He is passionate about helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes through personalised, evidence-based care.
Dr Namal believes that successful surgery begins with trust, communication and shared decision-making. He is committed to guiding every patient through their surgical journey, ensuring they understand their diagnosis, treatment options, expected recovery and potential risks, so they can make informed decisions with confidence.
He completed his Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training in Australia and has trained alongside leading reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeons in Canberra, Melbourne and Perth. With more than 10 years of experience in plastic surgery, he has developed expertise across a broad range of reconstructive, hand, skin cancer and aesthetic procedures. His experience includes working at the Victorian Adult Burns Service at The Alfred Hospital, where he cared for patients with complex burns and reconstructive needs.
Before specialising in plastic surgery, Dr Namal completed his early surgical training in Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and was awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MRCS). He graduated from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, before completing his internship at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in England.
As a devoted husband, father and son, Dr Namal understands the importance of treating every patient with the same compassion, respect and care that he would want for his own family. His approach combines technical expertise with genuine empathy, placing each patient's wellbeing at the centre of every decision.
